The 14th Annual Historic Seattle Bungalow Fair has long been the premier event of its kind in the Pacific Northwest, and is Historic Seattle’s most popular yearly offering.
On Saturday, September 24th, and Sunday, September 25th, Town Hall Seattle will once again provide a warm and inviting setting for a show and sale of antiques and contemporary work by fifty of the nation’s leading designers and craftspeople in metal, tile, glass, textiles, ceramics and lighting.
Located at 1119 Eighth Avenue at Seneca Street in Seattle, the Bungalow Fair is an opportunity to learn about early twentieth century architecture and design, and to ask questions and get answers from knowledgeable people in the field. It is also an opportunity for those who have been won over by Arts & Crafts period furniture and decoration to be visually stimulated and to think about ways to incorporate the many old and new offerings presented here into their homes, and talk to architects and interior designers about remodeling and new construction.
In conjunction with the two-day show and sale, lectures co-sponsored by the Seattle Art Museum will also be offered. Ulysses Grant Dietz, Senior Curator and Curator of Decorative Arts at the Newark Museum, will speak on The Victorian Roots of the Arts & Crafts Movement, while Liam O’Neill, in conjunction with the Royal Oak Foundation, will share his research in a talk entitled Archibald Knox: In the Ministry of the Beautiful.
In addition, Independent scholar, author and editor Anne Stewart O’Donnell will expand on her talk Five Outrageous Women of the Arts & Crafts Movement.
The Seattle Architecture Foundation is teaming up with Historic Seattle to offer a three-hour tour of area homes, gardens and selected interiors. This tour will only take place once each day, so advance reservations are required at http://www.brownpapertickets.com. Tickets are $30 in advance.
