Bungalow Fair Prepares For 13th Year in Seattle

Bungalow Fair Prepares For 13th Year in Seattle

On Saturday, September 25 and Sunday, September 26, the 13th annual Bungalow Fair returns to the historic Town Hall in downtown Seattle for a weekend of Arts & Crafts antiques, new works, lectures and house tours sure to please every Arts & Crafts collector. The event is organized and hosted by Historic Seattle.

As Larry Kreisman, Program Director, explains, "As a non-profit organization committed to historic preservation, Historic Seattle sees the Bungalow Fair and lectures as our most visible opportunity to reach homeowners and send the message of good stewardship and appropriate restoration and rehabilitation. Our exhibitors -- those showing antiques and those cottage industries doing wonderful contemporary work -- help us instill that message to over a thousand participants."

The two-day event is held at Town Hall Seattle, the city's historic cultural center and performance hall. Built during the Arts & Crafts era, it first served as a church. It was carefully restored in 1999 and has since served as the home of the annual Bungalow Fair. The second-floor auditorium, ringed with original stained glass windows, provides the perfect venue for the educational lectures each day.

But, as Larry observed, "Historic Seattle can't do it all. For several years we have done collaborative program planning with the Seattle Architecture Foundation to offer a residential bungalow tour and that will occur this year as well. And we are providing space to other non-profits, including the Association of King County Historical Organizations, Historic Everett, the Book Club of Washington and the Seattle Public Library."

"While we are proud of our regional exhibitors, our reputation as a well-managed, well-attended show in a lovely historic building, with over 50 volunteers, continues to attract exhibitors and attendees from across the country and Canada."

The events at Town Hall Seattle will run from 10:00am-5:00pm on Saturday, September 25, and from 10:00am-4:00pm on Sunday, September 26.
