Craftsman Farms Honored by Southland Log Homes

Craftsman Farms Honored by Southland Log Homes

Southland Log Homes, provider of America’s Favorite Log Home™, is pleased to announce a new agreement with The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms, the former home of early twentieth century designer Gustav Stickley, a major proponent of the American Arts and Crafts movement, which emphasized the value and beauty of well-crafted design that used natural materials and was in harmony with the environment.

Southland and The Stickley Museum will work together to develop a portfolio of Arts and Crafts-inspired log home designs, which will be marketed and manufactured by Southland. Southland and The Stickley Museum will also work together on a number of initiatives to support The Stickley Museum’s mission of demonstrating the continuing relevance of the values exhibited by the work of Gustav Stickley and the Arts and Crafts movement.

In 1911, Gustav Stickley designed and built a log home which can be viewed today at Craftsman Farms in Morris County, New Jersey. The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms was incorporated in 1989 to interpret, restore, and preserve Craftsman Farms and the artifacts and ideals associated with Gustav Stickley and the Arts and Crafts movement and to demonstrate the continuing relevance of Gustav Stickley and the Arts and Crafts movement. For more information about The Stickley Museum, visit www.stickleymuseum.org.

“We are pleased to be able to offer log home designs inspired by the vision of Gustav Stickley as part of our comprehensive library of custom-designed plans”, says Ken Sekley, CEO of Southland Log Homes. “The natural materials and environmentally harmonious design principles advocated by Stickley are especially important in today’s world, and are completely consistent with Southland’s ongoing focus on green home designs and building practices.“

At this year's Grove Park Inn Arts & Crafts Conference Southland Log Homes unveiled a scale model of Gustav Stickley's Craftsman Farms log home created using real wood, stones and hand-made clay roof tiles. The model remained on display all weekend and will be delivered to Craftsman Farms on March 23rd.

Headquartered in Columbia, South Carolina, Southland Log Homes was founded in 1978 and is the largest log home company in the United States. Southland operates model home sales offices in ten states and has authorized Southland dealers located throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Model homes are located in Atlanta, GA; Baton Rouge, LA; Birmingham, AL; Charlotte, NC; Christiansburg, VA; Columbia, SC; Fredericksburg, VA; Greensboro, NC; Greenville, SC; Houston, TX; Jackson, MS; Louisville, KY; Macon, GA; Memphis, TN; Nashville, TN; and San Antonio, TX.
