It’s a weekend you won’t want to stay home and watch mindless television.
For those of you on the East Coast, the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms will be holding a Gala Homecoming celebrating the 100th year of Gustav Stickley's Craftsman Farms in Morris Plains, NJ. Events for the weekend include tours of Stickley's 5000-square-foot home, a lecture on Friday evening, three additional seminar presentations on Saturday at the Newark Art Museum, and a banquet, auction, dance and Alks Ik Kan Award presentation that evening at the nearby historic Mountain Lakes Club.
In addition, the Newark Art Museum will be hosting the premier exhibition "Gustav Stickley and the American Arts & Crafts Movement."
For those of you on the West Coast, Pasadena Heritage will be presenting its 19th annual Craftsman Weekend in Pasadena, CA.
A tribute to Pasadena’s unique contributions to the American Arts & Crafts Movement, Craftsman Weekend is the largest and most comprehensive celebration of the Craftsman Movement in the Western United States. The Craftsman Weekend’s offerings will include a tour of significant Craftsman-era houses, a variety of bus and walking tours, and exclusive evening receptions at historic sites. New this year is the expanded Craftsman Exposition, a major exhibition and sale of furniture and decorative arts which has moved to the Pasadena Convention Center, where nearly 90 exhibitors will be selling both vintage and new works in the Arts & Crafts style.
East or West, you can't go wrong.
