Pottery Lovers Prepare To Meet In Zanesville

It is a city built on clay.

Zanesville, Ohio, population approaching 26,000 people, has long been known for its rich deposits of clay. And where there is clay, there have always been potters: Roseville, Rhead and Weller, just to name just a few.

And from July 7th through July 10th, dealers and collectors of 20th century art pottery will again descend on Zanesville, the self-proclaimed pottery capitol of the world, for four days of pottery shows, sales, talks and a Friday auction.

Hosted at the Ramada Inn Zanesville just five miles east of downtown, the Pottery Lovers Reunion has long been known as the event where collectors and dealers set up in their hotel rooms to show and sell their pottery. Here you can meet other collectors, dealers and authors of pottery books and learn more about your favorite pottery. You can share your love of pottery with other enthusiasts and meet other people excited about pottery who can become lifelong friends.

One unique aspect of the Pottery Lovers Reunion are the room sales which take place in the Ramada and the nearby Best Western motels during the entire event. Room sales begin on Thursday, July 7th, and continue through the entire Reunion. Room sales are always free to the public. Each dealer or enthusiast opens their hotel room to anyone looking to admire, purchase or learn about American art pottery. Many Pottery Lovers members have set up in the same rooms for decades and are always happy to talk about the their passion for art pottery. (Use cursor to enlarge lower photo.)

Thursday, July 7: "Show and Tell" cocktail hour begins at 6:00pm at the Ramada Inn.
