This may have been our Winter of Discontent, but next week promises to bring an early glimpse of spring to the national Arts & Crafts Conference.
And for those who are preparing to treat themselves with a trip to Asheville, here are a few tips to make your weekend one to remember for years to come:
Make a List. - Take a look at your collection and ask yourself: what’s missing? Make a list of five items you’re going to look for at the show.
Take Measurements. – Exactly how much room is there between your kitchen doorway and the corner? Will a 54” server fit there? Or between the windows on the south wall?
Thinking Rug? – Before you leave home, sketch out your floor plan, showing the measurements of each room.
Thinking a New Kitchen? – This year the Arts & Crafts Conference will feature two cabinet companies known for their Arts & Crafts designs. Once again, take some critical measurements and sketch out each kitchen wall.
Small Group Discussions – These daily roundtable discussions offer you the opportunity to ask questions, share ideas and pick the brains of experts (and people just like yourself) about decorating, furniture, art pottery, metalware and much, much more. The complete list of daily Small Group Discussions can be found at www.Arts-CraftsConference.com. Take a look and make your picks (no reservations required).
Take a Picture – Got a piece you can’t identify? One you’re really proud of? Maybe one you made yourself? Remember: a picture is worth a thousand words. Bring it along and show it around.
Make it an Arts & Crafts Birthday or Anniversary – This will be the time to pick out a one-of-a-kind gift for someone special (and don’t forget the pet-sitter).

See you there!
