Roycroft Art and Antiques Show Set for June

Every year at the end of June, a special weekend takes place in the quaint and charming village of East Aurora, New York, which is home to the historic Roycroft Campus, a major center of the American Arts & Crafts Movement. Their summer season kicks off with festivities that celebrate the community’s roots in art, history and a simpler way of life. On June 24th and 25th, don’t miss your chance to visit East Aurora and immerse yourself in all things Roycroft and explore small-town America.

In the heart of the village, the Roycroft Campus will hold their annual Art & Antique Show, featuring over 70 artists and antique vendors. While strolling the beautiful Campus grounds, you can find old and new hand-crafted treasures, visit with wild animals from Thistle Creek Alpacas (pictured at bottom of page) and Wild Spirit Education, and watch artists demonstrating their craft. Other highlights include live music, delicious cuisine from local food trucks and eateries, as well as fresh popped kettle corn. The Art & Antique Show will run 10 am – 5 pm, Saturday and Sunday, and is free and open to the public.

The historic Campus buildings will also be open, including the Copper Shop, which features the work of over 100 local, national and international artists as well as a variety of unique gifts and home décor; the Furniture Shop, where you can peruse a range of antiquities and additional artist work; and of course the perfect place to cool down is in the Power House M&T Bank Visitor Center, which will be open all weekend featuring historical exhibits that provide a glimpse into the rich history of the Roycroft. Located on the second floor will be the incredible paintings of watercolorist, Bob Maurer, on exhibit in the Neil and Barbara Chur Family Gallery through June 30th.

The many other festivities happening the same weekend include the Roycroft Summer Festival at Parkdale Avenue Elementary School, which will feature Roycrofters-at-Large Association juried artists; the East Aurora Art Society Show at the Main Street Middle School; and the Strawberry Festival and Jumble Sale at Baker Memorial Church.

With so much happening in East Aurora at the end of June, it’s the perfect opportunity to plan a first-time visit, or just return to enjoy it all again!
