Antikea Studio specializes in the commission sales of arts and crafts furniture built by craftsman Jonathan Walkey, primarily dining tables, coffee tables, lift-top coffee tables hall and end tables, nightstands, desks, specialty table, and table bases. Styles include traditional Greene & Greene, mission, Morris, craftsman, mid-century modern, Danish modern, etc. Mr. Walkey’s work includes hand routered inlays, use of tile, glass, patina metals, mirrors, etc. Antikea has been operating for seven years at San Diego’s MakerPlace community shop, a diverse community of woodworkers, cabinet makers, metal workers, machinists, laser craftsman, and others. Antikea has built and shipped over 100 pieces of heirloom quality furniture to satisfied customers across the U.S. and NW Canada.
Mr. Walkey’s background includes extensive training in the arts as a child. He grew up in the DeCordova Museum of Lincoln, MA, of which his father was the founding director. Mr. walkey attended art camp every summer as a child and was a trained silversmith by age 12, teaching adultl education in silversmithing at age 14. Mr. Walkey has worked as a Navy trained aircraft mechanic, carpenter (new and rehab houses) and master motorcycle mechanic. Mr. Walkey has years of college and university training in social science, law, and education, holding a jurisdoctor degree and a teaching credential. He has worked as a public defender, appellate attorney, professional writer and teacher. For the last decade, Mr. Walkey has devoted his efforts to the building of fine furniture.
