Pottery Convention Part of “Antiques Trifecta” in Chantilly, VA

In what is being called an “Antiques Trifecta,” the American Art Pottery Association Show will join two additional shows at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Virginia starting May 1st through the 5th. The show will be held alongside the Washington Art Deco/Modernism Show and the DC Big Flea Antique Market on Saturday and Sunday, May 4th and 5th, but will hold special events the days before that weekend. Admission to the AAPA Show & Sale will give visitors access to all three shows.

The special events include three educational seminars on Thursday and Friday, May 2nd and 3rd, tours at the National Museum of American History, the Freer, and the Torpedo Factory of Alexandria, Virginia, and a special banquet at the Holiday Inn. The three seminars are: “The Art Pottery of Jerry Marek and the American Art Clay Company (AMACO)” presented By Mark Bassett, “North Carolina Pottery” presented By Darrel Styles, and “Rose Cabat and Edwin Scheier – Two Twentieth Century Potters” presented By Bruce Block. Please see the convention packet listed on the AAPA’s convention website for more information HERE.

The American Art Pottery Association, or AAPA, has been conducted annually since 1983. The AAPA Convention and Show & Sale travels to a different city each year. The convention includes educational seminars, tours, exhibits, and more. The event will conclude with the show and sale with displays of American art pottery (both vintage and contemporary) as well as European and beyond – all for sale. Art pottery dealers from across the country will participate in the spectacular event for pottery collections from all corners of the country.

The Art Deco Society of Washington, or ADSW, will feature more than 550 antiques booths in the South Hall of the Expo Center and 120 booths in the North Hall in what will be a combination of AAPA’s Art Pottery Show and ADSW’s Modernism Show. Both organizations will conduct mini educational seminars in the form of “Booth Chats” in the North Hall during show hours on Saturday and Sunday. These informative chats allows participants to see and learn about different topics of interest and view examples of a collecting genre, firsthand. The list of topics will be available on site as well as in the Show Program.

The DC Big Flea Antiques Market has presented antiques and collectible shows throughout the mid-Atlantic states for 40 years. Hosted by D’Amore Productions and having hosted more than 500 exhibitor booths of antiques and collectibles – including period and vintage antiques to mid-century modern, this flagship show continues to increase in both popularity and success as they host six shows each year.

The show hours are as follows:

Saturday, May 4th from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Virginia
